This year the Sundance Film Festival showcases small films – but big stars, including Kristen Stewart, Katie Holmes and Ben Affleck.

• Holmes will be in Park City, Utah, to promote two films: The Extra Man, with John C. Reilly and Kevin Kline, and The Romantics, with an all-star cast including Josh Duhamel, Anna Paquin and Elijah Wood among others.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have wished their pal Jay Leno sweet success with his new primetime television show, which kicks off tonight.

A source close to “The Jay Leno Show” told Access Hollywood that the supercouple sent Jay and his staff almost 200 cupcakes with their good luck wishes as the comedian gets set to debut “The Jay Leno Show” on Monday night.

Tom and Katie purchased the cupcakes and a coconut cake from Sprinkles, a celeb-friendly cupcake shop in Beverly Hills.

The cupcakes are the second time Tom has shown his early support of his buddy Jay.

The talk show host revealed that Tom previously showed his enthusiasm for “The Jay Leno Show’s” racetrack, a new segment for the program which sees celebs compete for the fastest time.

“I’ve told it to a number of stars and, as a matter of fact, even Tom Cruise called and said ‘Can I get in early and practice?’ I said ‘No, nobody gets to practice,’” Jay recounted in August to a Television Critics Associate panel in Pasadena. “The fun thing about it, there’s a lot of people, [which] people want to see, perhaps athletes and people like this who are not good talkers but would be fun in this sort of environment – to see if Shaquille O’Neal is faster than Cameron Diaz.”

And in fact, Cameron Diaz is coming to Leno’s show. She and Tom will appear on his program together on Tuesday evening. [Source]

KATIE HOLMES has been tipped for a role in the next SEX AND THE CITY movie – playing a feisty businesswoman in the upcoming sequel.
Film bosses are currently putting together a follow-up to the hit 2008 picture, which was based on the longrunning U.S. TV show.
Shooting is expected to get underway later this year (09) and Holmes is rumoured to be in negotiations to join the cast – as a rival to Kim Cattrall’s maneating character Samantha.
A source tells British newspaper The Sun, “The character they want her to play is a really ballsy, high-powered company executive who tangles with Samantha.”

Katie Holmes has teamed up with Hairspray director Adam Shankman and reality TV guru Nigel Lythgoe to launch a dance scholarship fund.

The Hollywood actress, who is set to appear on Lythgoe’s U.S. show So You Think You Can Dance later this month, has joined forces with the pair and Dancing With the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba to set up the Dizzy Feet Foundation.

The scholarship organisation gives underprivileged youngsters the opportunity to take part in dance programs and win grants to enrol in accredited dance studios, reports Daily Variety.

Holmes says, “I think it’s important for children to experience music and dance. Every child should have the opportunity to discover what it is they like and have access to the very best in that pursuit.”

The Batman Begins star will show off her moves on the dancefloor during a special 100th episode of So You Think You Can Dance on 23 July, in which she will perform a tribute to Judy Garland. [SOURCE]

So Katie Holmes thinks she can dance — and in few weeks, she’ll display her moves before a discriminating audience.

Nigel Lythgoe, who is the producer of Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance,” confirms the 30-year-old actress will perform for the reality contest’s 100th episode, airing July 23.

Holmes will pay homage to Judy Garland. In a taped number, she’ll sing and dance to the Garland classic “Get Happy.”

Holmes’ TV cameo is meant to promote the new foundation she launched with Lythgoe and “Dancing With the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba.

Katie Holmes has recently been spotted going to LA-area dance studios several times a week.

Katie is to appear in the PBS National Memorial Day concert which is taking place this Sunday, May 24 at the United States Capitol and airs live on PBS from 8-9:30 PM (ET).

One of the features in this year’s concert will be the story of wounded soldiers. Katie Holmes and Dianne Wiest will join concert co-host Gary Sinise for a segment about the families of disabled vets. Sinise will narrate the story including how the soldier, Jose Pequeno, sustained a devastating traumatic brain injury in Iraq and was written off for dead. Dianne Wiest and Katie Holmes will then do a dramatic presentation of the story as told through the perspective of Jose’s mother, Nellie Bagley (played by Wiest) and his sister, Elizabeth (played by Holmes).

Katie Holmes has signed on to star in Guillermo del Toro’s forthcoming scarefest Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark.

Based on a 1973 television movie, Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark revolves around an eight-year-old girl who moves into a new house with her dad and his girlfriend.

After she discovers that the property is infested with devilish monsters, she struggles to convince the adults.

Holmes will play the girlfriend in one of her first major movie roles since Batman Begins.

Guillermo del Toro, who made Pan’s Labyrinth, will co-write and produce the movie, while Troy Nixey will be directing.

Filming will start this summer in Melbourne.
