Film committments brought A-listers Katie Holmes and Angelina Jolie to NYC — but the working moms’ most important project in Manhattan is coordinating a playdate between their toddlers!

“Katie loves entertaining and spoke to Angelina about having an at-home tea party with cupcakes for the girls,” a friend of Katie’s tells OK!. “It’s something she has wanted to do for ages,” adds another source close to the actress. “Because of security reasons, Katie can’t have just any child over to her home. But with celebrity tots like Shiloh and Zahara, there’s no problem.”

Plans for their “mini-meeting” began on Jan. 11 in L.A., when Katie and her husband, Tom Cruise, chatted with Angie and her partner, Brad Pitt, at a private Golden Globes afterparty thrown by CAA at the Sunset Tower Hotel. Of course Tom, 46, and Brad, 45, are hardly strangers. The two co-starred in the 1994 vampire flick, Interview With a Vampire, but lost touch over the years.

Katie Holmes’ ‘dinner treatment’ for people rude to her family
Written by Samantha on March 11th, 2009

Hollywood actress Katie Holmes has her own ways of dealing with people who pass rude comments on her family, for she has decided to invite them for a Dinner party.

The ‘Mad Money’ actress thinks that after meeting her family over a dinner party, people would apologize for their rude comments and would stop being rude to her lovely family, reports the China Daily.

“Sometimes I think I would say, ‘Why don’t you come over and have dinner?” she told America’s Glamour magazine.

Holmes revealed that some of the offensive comments left her aghast, when Suri her 2-year-old daughter was born.

” Katie admits she finds it hard when people spread rumors about Suri – shortly after she was born rumors circulated Katie’s pregnancy was an elaborate hoax and that Suri didn’t exist – and is determined to protect her daughter at all costs,” she said.

“Some of the stuff people said was such absolutely horrible things to say about a child. It was so uncalled for and so disgusting. Enough is enough. “Tom was supportive. We were changing diapers. He said, ‘I don’t want you to get upset.’ And I said, ‘Well, I am upset,” she added.

Holmes further revealed that she and her husband Tom Cruise together handled those comments.

“So we approached it together. But I definitely felt like – as a woman, as the mother of Suri – I want to handle this! My mom is very strong, and if anyone ever said anything about any of us, she would be, ‘Excuse me? That’s my family!” she said.

Cruise to go camping with his family
Written by Samantha on March 9th, 2009

Tom Cruise is all set to hop camps with his actress-wife Katie Holmes and their three-year-old daughter Suri across the United States. The Hollywood heartthrob was said to have been inspired after filming in South America earlier this year. According to reports, the family would return to nature at the end of March, but not without company.

“They’ll be accompanied by a friend from the church of Scientology, as Tom never likes to be too far away from his religion,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying. “They will also have security camped down the road to keep any unwelcome people at bay. They are certainly likely to cause a bit of a frenzy. But the whole point of them moving away from luxury holidays is to do things as a normal family.’

“This is what Tom wants for Suri. He doesn’t want her to miss out on the things he and Katie enjoyed as kids, just because she is growing up in the spotlight,” the source added. Meanwhile, Tom’s better half has revealed that she often leaves the cooking job to her hubby, who is a fantastic cook even outdoors.

‘I Don’t Let Tabloid Stories Get me Down’
Written by Samantha on March 5th, 2009

Katie Holmes has revealed how she deals with the tabloid speculation about her life – she just goes about her business as normal.

The former Dawson’s Creek actress – who is married to actor Tom Cruise – insists she is ignores rumors about her and her family, and just gets on with her life.

She tells Glamour magazine, “I feel really, really lucky. And you know what? I feel the best response [to all those tabloid stories] is just going about my life: enjoying life, making movies, being a good mom and a good wife, and focusing on that. Because if you’re doing well, what can they say?”

“I always wanted to do theater,” adds Katie – who recently made her Broadway debut in the Arthur Miller play All My Sons. “And that experience was better than I could have ever imagined. It was fascinating because your performance changes every night.

“You’re learning different things about the play and your character.

“It was great to have Suri come – she couldn’t come every night, but she came a lot during the week. To have my family there was icing on the cake.”

‘I don’t cook,’ admits Glamour girl Katie Holmes
Written by Samantha on March 5th, 2009

She may not look like she eats very much, but Katie Holmes has revealed she likes nothing more than tucking into her husband’s signature dish – creamy carbonara pasta.

Katie opens up about life as Mrs Tom Cruise in a special 70th anniversary edition of U.S. Glamour magazine, which features her on three different covers.

‘I don’t really cook that much – eventually I will,’ said Katie. ‘I do make cupcakes. And [Tom] makes his pasta carbonara for me.

‘He knows exactly how to do it: a pinch of this, a pinch of that. He has a recipe, but he also kind of [improvises] by himself. You have to do the egg at a certain time. He did it once when we were camping.’

With her prominent collar bones and slim figure Katie certainly doesn’t look like she enjoys the creamy dish too often.

As well as a hectic workload, she is reportedly also undergoing a  punishing  detox diet, apparently as a prelude to having a second child.

The regime reportedly left her lethargic and unable to attend this month’s Oscars ceremony.

The slim actress features on three front covers for the magazine. In one she smiles over her shoulder in a cheeky pose, while in the other two she adopts a girl-next-door persona,  facing the camera.

The 30-year-old says she grew up knowing she wanted to marry 16-years-older Tom.

‘When Top Gun came out, my sisters were like, “Oh, my God, Top Gun! Tom Cruise!” And I very confidently said, “I’m going to marry him one day.” It wasn’t like, How do I get to Tom Cruise? It was just: I think I’m going to marry him. Why not? He’ll like me. I’m fun.’

Katie claims she never doubted her prediction would come true.

‘I did everything I could to get here, and when I met Tom, I knew in an instant that we were going to be together, that we were going to get married.’

And Katie says her three-year-old daughter Suri is already aware of her parents’ fame.

‘If] Tom or I are on TV, we’ll watch it. And when we were in New York, we would see a lot of Valkyrie posters. She goes, “Look! There’s Valkyrie movie!”‘

Katie Holmes certainly believes in the saying that the way to people’s heart is through their stomach, for the actress recently tried to win over the cast and crew on her latest movie by buying cookies for them.

The former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star is currently shooting ‘The Extra Man’ in New York.

The 30-year-old actress treated everybody on the set with cookies as a gesture of her love on February 24.

“It was only the second day of filming and Katie brought our entire crew chocolate chip cookies. What an utter sweetheart,” Contactmusic quoted a source as telling America’s OK! magazine.

The insider added: “She said, ‘I know you guys work hard.’ It’s such a small gesture but it really goes a long way. She’s cordial, she’s friendly and everyone already loves her.”

Katie Holmes: ‘I Grew up Wanting to Act’
Written by Samantha on March 5th, 2009
Katie Holmes grew up wanting to be an actress. The former Dawson’s Creek star – who is married to Tom Cruise – says she used to admire a whole host of Hollywood heavyweights during her formative years, including Julia Roberts and Audrey Hepburn.

She tells Glamour magazine, “Growing up, I always had my dreams set on being an actor, so I looked up to Julia Roberts, Audrey Hepburn.

“I also look up to Kate Winslet and Renée [Zellweger] and Cate Blanchett…and Diane Keaton – she’s a genius. I think it’s very inspiring to see these women attack such complex roles.”

Katie, 30, also says husband Cruise “loves” women – and revealed the surprise the Top Gun star arranged for her recent birthday.

She adds, “He loves women; he was raised with sisters. He’s strong and intelligent and very, very funny. For my thirtieth birthday he couldn’t be in New York [where she was doing her play, All My Sons].

“So he organized the whole audience at that show to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to me, and then he had a cake rolled out on the stage.

“But he’s not a dreamer – he just does it. He’ll say, ‘I think I like that movie,’ and the next day, ‘I’m going to make that movie!’”
