The mystery has been solved: Katie Holmes was cheating on her hair stylist! Well, in a movie, that is. Tuesday night, the actress revealed The Decision, a short film she shot for John Frieda’s new Precision Foam Colour, which was teased online last week. In the four-minute flick, Holmes plays Joan Hudson, an American movie star who’s gone missing, and reportedly split from her colorist beau. As she tries to flee by airplane, she’s stopped by security, and when her bag is searched, boxes of the foam are found. John Frieda stylist Harry Josh, who coiffed Holmes’s hair for the movie and Tuesday’s premiere, says the actress was excited to do the promotion. “She said it was a really fun project,” he told PEOPLE. “She told me she was attracted to the whole short-film concept.” For The Decision, Josh said he “structured” her hair. “It was very dramatic … very clean,” he explained. So for the premiere, held at New York City club Lavo, he took it to the other extreme. “We did something incredibly soft, loose, natural and totally easy. We wanted it casual, just to throw the whole thing off.” Tricky! Learn more about The Decision at facebook.com/whatsinthebag.

Katie Holmes spends most of her time on the road traveling – but she’s learned to navigate the nomadic lifestyle and maintain a homey feeling wherever she goes.

One of her tips for making daughter Suri Cruise, who’ll be 5 in April, feel at home no matter where they are? “Bring lots of crayons, glue good paper and you can turn any room into a very warm, familial place,” Holmes, 32, tells Women’s Wear Daily.

Holmes – who travels for her own career as an actress, to promote her fashion line, Holmes and Yang, and to be with husband Tom Cruise – says one of her favorite hobbies is doing arts and crafts projects with her little one.

“My husband got me a sewing machine for my birthday,” Holmes said, adding that she likes to get Suri involved. “My mom grew up making curtains and pillows and everything, and it made our home very warm, so I like to do things like that with my daughter.”

Katie Holmes’ rep has confirmed to EW that the actress has filed a libel lawsuit against American Media, Inc., in Los Angeles Tuesday. The suit claims Star Magazine — owned by American Media, Inc. — defamed Holmes by suggesting she is addicted to drugs in a recent cover story. (The headline: “Katie Drug Shocker“) Holmes filed the lawsuit after American Media, Inc., declined her request to retract the story. Says Holmes in a statement: Of all the fabricated stories that continue to be published about me, this instance is beyond the pale. The publisher knew this outrageous story was false and printed it anyway to sell magazines.”

American Media, Inc., has issued the following comment regarding the suit: “Star fully stands behind the editorial integrity of what we have published concerning Ms Holmes’ controversial use of the Scientology ‘e-meter.’ The physical effect of the e-meter on its users is a matter of significant public concern and we plan to vigorously defend the suit filed by Ms. Holmes. Many ex-scientologists have testified that the e-meter sessions have mood elevating effects. The cover and the inside article discuss these effects. Our attorneys look forward to deposing Ms. Holmes about her experiences with Scientology and the e-meter, and expect that the case will be promptly dismissed by the court.“

Katie Holmes has been chosen by Italian fashion label MaxMara for their ‘ “2011 Women In Film Max Mara “Face of the Future®”Award’ which is given to recognise style, talent and the recipient’s contribution to the community.

Katie Holmes has been honoured by MaxMara as their ‘ “2011 Women In Film Max Mara “Face of the Future®”Award’.

The annual award is given by the Italian fashion label to recognise style, talent and the recipient’s contribution to the community and Katie who travelled to Milan Fashion Week for the brand’s catwalk presentation said she was thrilled with the honour because she adores the label.

She explained: “Their clothes are so comfortable and beautifully made, I love wearing them. I’m so excited to be here at Milan Fashion Week, this is my first time. I haven’t been shopping yet but I will sneak in some time to shop.”

Ian Griffiths – Head of Design Style for the brand – revealed they had chosen Katie because she is the epitome of a MaxMara customer.

He told the Daily Telegraph: “Katie’s style is chic and modern, it equates with the Max Mara style because it gives you confidence so you look good in anything. No matter what you’re doing you don’t have to worry about how you look.

“With MaxMara you have to wear the clothes nonchalantly, you treat a camel coat like it’s nothing special and then mix it with something a bit more sexy like Katie does.”

The award will be presented to Katie – who attended the fashion show in Milan yesterday (24.02.11) with her mother Kathleen – at a gala in Beverly Hills in June where she will join the ranks of previous recipients Zoe Saldana, Emily Blunt and Elizabeth Banks.

Meanwhile Dolce and Gabbana presented an Eighties inspired collection in Milan yesterday and Karl Lagerfeld provided a modern take on Victorian inspired clothes for Fendi while today (25.02.11) Pucci will livestream its show from the Italian city.

The controversial miniseries nixed by the History Channel will air after all.

ReelzChannel has announced that The Kennedys, starring Katie Holmes and Greg Kinnear, will make its world premiere on the network beginning April 3.

As the channel notes: “Viewers will see every twist and turn of this family’s extraordinary story up to and including the assassinations of JFK and RFK.”

The channel’s CEO, Stan E. Hubbard, said in a statement, “We believe in the business we are committed to – movies, the celebrities making them and how and why they influence our cultural universe. If that means defending the right for well-told and important stories to be seen – then so be it – we can do that.”

He added, “We’re not beholden to anyone – we are here for the viewers and we are here for the movie and artistic community as well. As an independent, we have the freedom few networks enjoy.”

The controversial miniseries is yet to find a home but producers reportedly are shopping it to a company which has no direct competition with History channel.

Producers are still trying hard to get “The Kennedys” to the eyes of public and the latest network they visited was Tribune Broadcasting. The controversial miniseries which was axed by History channel before its pilot even aired, would possibly take an unconventional route with the syndication deal.

“Kennedys”, starring Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes, is an 8-hour project which History claimed unfit for its channel. But rumor has it, the network received political pressure from the Kennedy family although producers said they have consulted historians and made some adjustments to meet both’s ends.

A rep for Tribune has confirmed to Deadline that the company has been in talks for the mini but declined further comment. This decision to land it on a syndication is triggered by the fact that History still has a say on who gets the project. History may not want it to land on a rival network although some cables are also eying to pick the mini up.

“I’m not sure if History wants another (basic) cable net to air it so they might take less money to have it in syndication,” a source said. The project reportedly cost a lavish $25-million in production.
