A coroner has found “no obvious signs of foul play” in the death of Katie Holmes’ brother-in-law Joseph Fretti.
Fretti, who was married to Holmes’ older sister, Tamera, was found dead at age 48 on April 12 at his mother’s home in Sarasota, Fla. A representative for Holmes told
RadarOnline.com, which was first to report the death, that Fretti died of heart failure.
An autopsy was conducted but the cause of his death will take weeks to be determined, according to medical examiner Dr. Russell Vega.
Fretti’s body was released to a funeral home in Toledo, where Holmes is expected to attend a funeral mass on Monday. It is not known if her husband, Tom Cruise, will attend.
